CLASSES OFFERED

Creative Movement

This class encourages young movers to explore self-expression through physicality while building confidence in their movement abilities. Dancers will strengthen and stretch their bodies, build coordination and musicality, and learn basic dance techniques with movement games and dance props.

Ballet

Dancers will learn ballet positions and steps, build strength and flexibility along with musicality and coordination. The Dance School Bishop offers multiple levels of ballet instruction depending on age and prior experience.

Hip Hop

Dancers will learn hip hop technique and choreography, while focusing on muscle development, body control, and rhythm. The Dance School Bishop offers multiple levels of hip hop instruction depending on age and prior experience.

Tap

Dancers will learn the stylistic qualities of tap dance form, while building a repertoire of steps, along with rhythm and coordination. We offer multiple levels of tap instruction depending on age and prior experience.

Jazz

Dancers will learn the stylistic qualities of jazz, while building a repertoire of steps, turns, and leaps, along with rhythm and coordination. We offer multiple levels of jazz instruction depending on age and experience.

Lyrical

Dancers will learn various aspects of ballet, jazz, and modern dance along with musicality and coordination. This class is offered to our more experienced or older dancers.

Musical Theatre

Dancers will learn ballet and jazz technique as well as character development. This class is offered to dancers age six and up.

About the Dance School

The Dance School Bishop is the vision and determination of Angela Calloway. It began as a one-woman endeavor to teach dance to a small group of young girls in 2018, with the first annual recital being held in her living room. Word soon spread and as requests to enroll students increased, Angie held classes at a local school and arts center. The school has grown, even as the pandemic meant that classes were held outdoors and through virtual lessons online.

Today the school is in a dedicated youth dance facility with over 100 students in recreational and competitive programs.
